Camp Levieux in the limelight!

adminNews

The residents of Camp Levieux couldn't miss the big yellow and white tent that was erected opposite the Winners from 11th to 15th September. From Wednesday to Sunday, the whole neighbourhood was alive with the ‘Jesus Lespwar’ evangelism campaign, culminating in the reopening of the Église Chrétienne de Camp Levieux.

When values and colours go hand in hand

This programme kicked off on Wednesday with an event that was to run for four days. After obtaining all the necessary authorisations, a team from tÉglise Chrétienne painted a fresco on a 25-metre wall, highlighting the essential values that our society needs: love, respect, honesty, sharing and loyalty!

Artists, volunteers and many local children joined forces to complete this giant, colourful, collaborative work. The floral inspiration sprung from the idea of cultivating and growing these values, for the benefit of the whole community.

As a symbol for the future, some fifty children from Camp Levieux were able to sign the fresco with their own handprints.

The week was punctuated by a number of events under the big tent next door, which gave many Camp Levieux residents the opportunity to be encouraged, entertained and, above all, to hear the Word of God.

A moment for mothers

On Wednesday evening, Marie Aimée Thomas led a discussion entitled ‘Mama pe soufer anou koze’ (Moms suffering: let's talk). Aimed at women in particular, the discussion focused on the problems they face at home and in society, and the only solution to them: Jesus! By the end of the session, seven participants had been touched, accepting the Lord into their hearts.

The love of Jesus in song and sketch

On Thursday evening, the big tent welcomed a gospel show featuring young people from the churches of Trianon, Port-Louis and Bambous. The residents of Camp Levieux turned up in great numbers to listen to an array of gospel songs interspersed with sketches depicting the place of Jesus in our lives.

After the show, Pastor Jocelyn Neeladoo invited those who had been touched to draw close. Six people came forward and experienced the love of Jesus through the forgiveness of their sins and their reconciliation with God.

Walking in the light of Christ

The first meeting with pastor Miki Hardy took place on Friday evening. This time there was not enough space in the tent and many people gathered outside to listen to the message. Pastor Miki Hardy reminded the audience that the signs are all pointing to the imminent return of Jesus, who will come for those who believe in Him. He called on the audience to leave behind the darkness of ignorance and sin and come closer to the light of Christ. Once again, nine people were touched and gave their hearts to Jesus.

Jesus for the young

Saturday morning began with a special programme for the children. 60 children, of which 40 were from Camp Levieux, were able to play and listen to the Word of God in a fun way, led by a team of Christians and Pastor Jonathan Hett. This lively and entertaining morning enabled all the children present to know just how much Jesus loves them.

The afternoon was devoted to the youth, with a number of sports activities on the field opposite the repainted wall. More than 70 of them came to play and have fun in a good atmosphere, keeping in mind the values highlighted by the magnificent fresco.

Seeking God

To conclude this busy day, pastor Miki Hardy addressed the evening meeting. After asking those present what they wanted for their lives on this earth, he encouraged them to seek God, His forgiveness and the eternal life He has promised to all His children, because these are the only things that give meaning to life. Once again, many people were touched and came forward to be saved, forgiven and give their lives to the Lord Jesus.

Camp Levieux church back in operation

In addition to sharing the love of Christ in this neighbourhood, this ‘Jesus Lespwar’ campaign had a second objective, that of preparing for an important event, the reopening of l'Église Chrétienne de Camp Levieux, which had been closed due to the COVID period. More than 130 people gathered for worship on Sunday 15th to celebrate the reopening of their local church, a sign that the church is meeting a great need in the area.

The Lord has done wonderful things at Camp Levieux. He is at work and continues to prepare His Church for His return.
